| The color Black in Icelandic Horses is dominant to Chestnut. The Black color need only be passed to the the horse will still be Black, yet will carry the Chestnut gene and has the potential to pass it to any offspring. A horse that receives a Black gene from each parent will only produce Black based offspring. A Black Horse can be modified by several additional color modifying genes. The color modifiers affecting Black and found in the Icelandic horse are Cream, Dun, Pinto, Silver Dapple, Roan, Grey and Splashed White. We are looking for photos of beautiful Icelandic Horses in all of these colors or any combinations there of. |
